The Hula Grill Restaurant on Kaanapali Beach is a Maui treat like no other.
There's a reason the Hula Grill wins awards. It isn't just some oceanfront beach house. It's a dining attraction you don't want to miss and, yes, it has a beautiful ocean view. That's like lava icing on the volcano cake. Just one meal consumed at this restaurant and you'll be nostalgic even if you've never been to Hawaii before. That's because the architecture is design to make your memories last forever.
The grill opened its doors in 1994 and since then has delighted visitors with a fantastic menu and knock down service, not to mention to the most gorgeous sunsets known to man. Peter Merriman, the house chef with more kudos than a chocolate factory, has produced an eclectic island fare made with fresh ingredients and a Pacific tradition that is forward looking as much as tasteful. His recipes have been referred to as "Hawaiian Regional Seafood" and if you've never had it be prepared to fall in love.
The Hula Grill is a member of a restaurant chain with one foot in Hawaii and one foot in California. Like its sister grill in Wakiki, the Hula Grill at Kaanapali is famous for its fresh fish and locally grown produce, simple recipes, and vibrant flavors.
One of the best parts about this cozy little diner is The Barefoot Bar. Nuzzle your toes in the sand as you sip a Maui Margarita under a thatch umbrella. Feast your eyes on the Crab and Macadamia Nut Wontons or sink your teeth into the Coconut Calamari. Whatever your tastes, you're sure to find the appetizers and the main courses a fabulous rendition of Maui meal making. The salads, the sandwiches, the dinner plates - all of it is without pretense and perfect for any palate. From smoked turkey to the Baja Fish Taco, The Barefoot Bar has something for everyone.
The drinks and wine list are equally impressive. Mai Tais, Blue Hawaiis, and other tropical drinks are sure to make your stay in Maui a blast you'll always remember. Try a premium beer on tap or one of the local brews, it won't matter because the bar is open late. Of course, you won't want to miss the house specialty drinks either: Banana Mac with its attention to Irish Crème & Macadamia Nut liqueur blended with fresh bananas; the Hula Berry, featuring raspberry liqueur and rum along with strawberries and Hawaiian juices; and the "Mc" Tai, a traditional Mai Tai made with pineapple, lemon, and lime juices. Are your taste buds jumping with excitement? They should be.
The Hula Grill also features some fabulous entrees on its party platter, and the banquet dinners are to die for. Groups with 16 or more can have their own set menu. You'll get a two hour block of time set aside just for your group with a reservation and manager approval. Plus, you can choose a section of the restaurant for exclusive use with The Hula Grill's buyout policy. Otherwise, you'll be seated in the luxurious Waterfall Room. Your large party can be booked at The Hula Grill any time between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. or after 5 p.m. any day of the week.
The staff at The Hula Grill makes it priority number one for you and your guests to have the time of your lives. When in Maui, stop by on your way to Kaanapali Beach.
