Explore the scenically majestic Road to Hana. This is easily one of Maui's best attractions. Here’s the scoop on breathtaking stops along the way and a couple of helpful tips to help you on your journey.
Plan Ahead
- If you can head out by sunrise - do so. This is one of Maui's most popular excursions, and the road can get packed if you get a late start.
- Take your swimsuit for basking underneath waterfalls.
- Wear comfortable footwear. Flip flop aren’t going to cut it. There are plenty of spots to walk around, and there aren't always blazed paths.
- Pick up a "lunch box meal" in Paia. These are great to have when you stop off for a picnic.
- Purchase an audio tour to listen to in the car. This will tell you all about the great sights along the way.
Sights & Scenery
- Pineapple and taro fields
- Haleakala National Park
- Babbling brooks tricking underneath small bridges
- Tumbling waterfalls of magnificence including Puohokamoa Falls
- Rainforests teaming with bamboo and brilliantly green foliage
- Hawaii's state bird - the majestic nene
If you'd rather embark on a guided tour, this is also a magnificent way to travel the Road to Hana.
